Very Late Candidates
If a candidate arrives very late (more than one hour after the published start time) for a JCQ exam, Windermere School invigilators must:
- Allow the candidate to sit the exam.
- Provide the full exam time.
- Submit the script.
- Submit a JCQ/VLA form on the centre admin portal (CAP).
- Warn the candidate that the awarding body may not accept their script.
Candidates have been trained on what to do (e.g. if there is a bad road traffic issue and they are running late):
- Use their phone to ring into school and to say that they are running late and to explain the issue.
- Then turn their phone off and hand it to an adult (e.g. the driver of the car). This adult is effectively now acting as an invigilator.
- When the candidate arrives at school, go to reception and be handed from the original adult (e.g. parent) to reception. Their phone is to be handed over too.
- The candidate will then be collected by one of the exam team, and given time to calm down / be reassured / go to the toilet.
- They will then be taken to the exam venue to sit the exam.
