3 May 2024
Year 5 pupils from Windermere School embarked on an exhilarating residential trip to Ingleton, brimming with excitement and anticipation. Their journey was nothing short of remarkable, filled with moments of triumph, camaraderie, and personal growth.
Summiting Ingleborough: A Triumph of Determination
On the first day, spirits soared as the pupils conquered the majestic heights of Ingleborough. The summit, a testament to their determination and resilience, offered breath-taking views and a sense of accomplishment that will stay with them forever. After their conquest, they returned to the hostel, where they indulged in a hearty meal of sausage and chips, followed by a visit from Mrs Gaskin to play at Ingleton Park before retiring for a well-deserved early night.
Delving into the Depths: Brave Explorers of Runscar and Thistle Caves
Day two dawned with a buzz of excitement as the pupils geared up for another day of adventure, after a big breakfast they were ready for action. Their courage knew no bounds as they ventured into the depths of Runscar and Thistle Caves at Ribblehead. Amidst the darkness and mystery, they discovered newfound bravery, with many conquering fears and uncovering hidden talents. Some even said they have found their new favourite sport! Caving became more than just an activity; it became a journey of self-discovery and empowerment.
Reaching New Heights: Climbing Beyond Limits
Emerging from the underground, the pupils embraced the challenge of climbing at Hutton Roof, pushing themselves to new heights both literally and figuratively. As they ascended, they not only conquered physical obstacles but also strengthened their bonds through encouragement and support. Each belay and cheer echoed the spirit of teamwork and resilience, fostering a sense of unity and accomplishment among the group.
After another busy day of adventuring, Year 5 had a lovely visit from Mr Thompson as well as Mrs Cooper. With a final play in the park, they slept well and dreamt of what adventures were awaiting their last day…
Final Thrilling Adventure: Scrambling in Barbon
As the sun rose on the final day of their residential journey, Year 5 were filled with excitement for the exhilarating adventure awaiting them: Scrambling in the picturesque surroundings of Barbon. It was a warm day which meant they could all enjoy a delicious picnic by the Barbon Beck, before packing up to make the journey back to school.
Well done Year 5, you should all be very proud of how much you have achieved this trip! Through conquering mountains and exploring caves, they have forged memories that will last a lifetime, proving that with determination and camaraderie, they can conquer any challenge that comes their way.
