Windermere School Wins Gold
30 March 2023
On Tuesday 28 March Windermere School’s Year 8 netball team attended the South Lakes School U13 Netball Tournament competing against a total of 9 schools from the surrounding area.
First up were the group stages which saw Windermere gain victories against Cartmel Priory, John Ruskin and Queen Katherine. The girls quickly settled into these games with our centre players Holly J and Ava W rotating every half time to keep the teams on their toes and lead us into the semi-finals.
Following a quick team talk from Miss Alcock the starting whistles were blown and the semi-finals began against Kirkbie Kendal. Our defence were certainly being given the run around with Daisy T, Elyse G and Ava S working as a fantastic trio to gain possession of the ball. After an intense 2nd half, time was up and Windermere School were celebrating the win and through to the finals!
There was time for a short drink break and then the teams were ready and the finals began. Windermere took the lead scoring the first goal however the game against Queen Elizabeth school was certainly being well contested. At half time Windermere were one point down with a score of 5-4. However, after a quick team talk the 2nd half saw our star shooters Victoria C and Libby P come into their own working as a great duo and not missing a shot. Windemere finished as gold medal winners with a score of 9-7!
Thank you to all South Lakes schools for an excellent afternoon of competition and a great end to the netball season.
