Making a Splash: Diving into Junior School Swimming Lessons

This term, our Junior School has been abuzz with excitement as Pre-School to Year 4 pupils dive into their Monday swimming lessons with enthusiasm. From building water confidence to mastering strokes, each year group is making remarkable progress:
- Pre-School and Reception: Our youngest learners are taking their first strokes towards water confidence, discovering the joy of being safe and comfortable in the water.
- Year 1 and 2: With a focus on the fundamentals of swimming, these pupils are honing their strokes and developing the essential components needed to navigate the water with ease.
- Year 3 and 4: Advancing to more complex techniques, these pupils are consolidating their strokes, perfecting their techniques, and mastering the art of swimming longer distances.
As the weather warms up, we’re thrilled to take advantage of our local open-air pool, providing the perfect setting for our aquatic adventures. With sunny days ahead, we can’t wait to see our young swimmers making even greater strides in the weeks to come.
The excitement doesn’t end with Monday’s lessons—our Swimming and Water Polo Club on Thursdays has been a roaring success this term. Pupils of all abilities are refining their strokes and skills in the water, with a special focus on adapting these skills for water polo.
In the second half of the club, our young athletes get to put their skills to the test in fun yet competitive water polo games, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to their swimming experience.
With such enthusiastic participation and dedication, it’s clear that our Junior School pupils are truly making a splash both in and out of the pool. We can’t wait to see what further achievements await them in the water!
