Junior School Sports Day: A Day of Fun, Sun and Friendly Competition!

21 June 2024

On 19 June, our Junior School was abuzz with excitement as we celebrated a truly spectacular Sports Day. The sunny weather set the perfect scene for a day filled with athletic feats, camaraderie and community spirit.

The festivities kicked off in the morning with a series of thrilling field events. Our young athletes showcased their skills in events such as the long jump, high jump, javelin, shot put, and disc throwing, among others. The energy was palpable as pupils gave their best, cheered on by their peers and teachers. The field was alive with enthusiasm, and it was heart-warming to see everyone giving their all and encouraging their friends.

After the field events, everyone took a well-deserved break to refuel with lunch. This offered a perfect chance for pupils to rest and prepare for the afternoon’s track events!

With the arrival of many wonderful parents in the afternoon and The Friends of Windermere School providing a delightful stall stocked with snacks and drinks, the track events began. Parents’ support from the side-lines added an extra layer of joy and motivation for our pupils. Events like sprints, relays and an obstacle course demonstrated not only the competitive spirit of our pupils but also their ability to cheer each other on, celebrating every victory and personal achievement together.

The day concluded with much anticipation as the scores were tallied. Each house gave their best, but it was Cavendish who emerged as the overall winners. Well done Cavendish!

A special shout-out goes to Mr Dolman, whose meticulous organisation and enthusiastic leadership ensured that the day ran smoothly and was enjoyable for all. His efforts in planning and executing such a fantastic event did not go unnoticed and were greatly appreciated by pupils, staff and parents alike.

Overall, the Junior School Sports Day was a fantastic success, marked by brilliant sunshine, excellent performances and an overwhelming sense of community. Here’s to the sportsmanship and enthusiasm of our young athletes, and we eagerly look forward to next year’s event!
