This past Saturday, talented pupil Jake travelled to Hull to participate in his fourth National Youth Brass Band Championship. Despite enduring significant pain from a broken ankle, Jake delivered a stellar performance, demonstrating the professionalism and dedication that define him as a musician.

His resilience and commitment did not go unnoticed, as top players from around the world commended his strength of character and unwavering passion for brass banding. Jake not only performed with his band, the Lancashire Youth Brass Band, but also stepped in to assist the St Helens Youth Brass Band, who were short of a solo cornet player.

The event proved to be a great success for both bands. St Helens Youth Brass Band achieved a prestigious Gold Award in the Yamaha Performance Section, while Lancashire Youth Brass Band competed in the highly challenging Championship Section, securing a Gold Award and an impressive fourth-place overall finish. This achievement solidifies their status as one of the leading youth brass bands in Great Britain.

The dedication, loyalty, and camaraderie displayed by these young musicians was truly inspiring. Congratulations to Jake and all the talented performers for their outstanding achievements!
