Honouring Remembrance Day at Windermere School

11 November 2024

Today at Windermere School, pupils and staff gathered in remembrance, honouring those who have sacrificed their lives in service. With respect and reflection, we observed Remembrance Day to pay tribute to the courage, resilience and enduring spirit of veterans and fallen soldiers alike. The terrace was filled with a quiet reverence as we all stood together, each person reflecting on the profound impact of those who fought for freedom and peace.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Jake, whose trumpet performance brought a moving depth to the service. His music echoed, filling the hearts of everyone present with a sense of gratitude and reverence. The notes of the Last Post reminded us all of the fragility and value of peace, as well shared responsibility to uphold it.

A Remembrance Day Poem

We wear our poppies with pride, red as the field,
To honour the fallen, to our gratitude yield.
In silence we stand, our heads bowed low,
For heroes of past, in soft winds they blow.

The Last Post sounds, pure and clear,
Echoing courage, year upon year.
We remember their sacrifice, valour, and pain,
In hopes that such loss shall not come again.
