Hitting All the Right Notes: Jake’s Remarkable Weekend

19 November 2024

At Windermere School, we are incredibly proud of Jake, one of our talented pupils, who has been making waves in the world of youth brass music. Last weekend, Jake had the honour of competing with the Lancashire Youth Brass Band in the prestigious Youth Brass in Concert competition, held at the stunning Glasshouse in Gateshead. This event brought together eight of the finest youth bands in the country, showcasing an extraordinary level of talent that left the adjudicators in awe. They even said how they had to keep reminding themselves that these were youth performances!

We are thrilled to share that Lancashire Youth Brass Band achieved an incredible 2nd place in this highly competitive event. Jake and his fellow musicians dedicated countless hours to practice, and it was heartening to know that their hard work and commitment payed off in such a spectacular way.

The day was a true marathon of music and effort for Jake, his family and supporters, with a 6:15 a.m. departure from Chorley and a late return home after 10 p.m. Despite the long hours, the passion and dedication shown by Jake and his bandmates are an inspiration to us all.

Jake’s recent accomplishments don’t stop there. On Remembrance Day, he moved everyone with his powerful and heartfelt rendition of The Last Post, a moment that deeply resonated with those in attendance.

We couldn’t be prouder of Jake’s achievements and his unwavering dedication to his music. He exemplifies the spirit of Windermere School, and we can’t wait to see where his talents take him next. Congratulations, Jake—you’re an inspiration to us all!
