I am delighted to invite you to come along to our Careers Conference on Friday 15 March 2024. This is the second Careers Conference we have organised and this year the focus is on ‘Skills for the Future’. Whilst we work endlessly to support our students to reach their academic potential, we also aim to develop the skills they are going to need to go out into the world of work. In the afternoon all students in year 10 and 12 will be taking part in mock interviews with the organisations at the Careers Conference.
On Friday 15 March 2024 we have over 30 organisations in school offering advice on career pathways and the skills students will need. The event begins at 8.45am with a keynote speech by ex-parent Neil Jurd OBE.
8.15-8.45am – Visitors arrive and guided to allocated space ( let me know if you need any special conditions – power source/table..) Tea/coffee available. Parents are invited from 8.30am to the end of the Key Speaker and will leave before the sessions begin.
8.50-9.10am – Session 1 – Lower school arrive. Key speaker and welcome by Neil Jurd OBE.
9.10- 10.40am – Students have pre-selected 5/6 visitors to meet. The groups will be 1-8 students.
10.40-11.00am – Break – coffee/tea and refreshments for visitors
11.00-12.55 – Repeat for Upper school .
1.00-2.00pm – Lunch in Wetherlam for visitors
End 4.00-4.100pm
2.100-4.10pm – Mock interviews for year 10 and 12 students in the dance studio. Each interviewer will interview 4-6 students. Application forms, questions and feedback sheets provided for each candidate. Each interview has 15 minutes time slot to allow for pre-reading and feedback form to be completed.
