Becoming a Round Square Learner: One Log at a Time
23 April 2025
This academic year, we were thrilled to introduce the Round Square Discovery Framework Logbook for pupils in Years 7 and 8. The logbook is a practical and reflective tool designed to help pupils track their personal development through the lens of the Round Square Discovery Framework.
The Round Square Discovery Framework captures the spirit of a Round Square learner—one who demonstrates key competencies and attitudes such as responsibility, courage, curiosity and compassion. With each use of the framework, pupils are encouraged to reflect and record real-life examples in their logbooks. Once a pupil demonstrates consistent application of a particular Discovery, they are awarded a badge representing that aspect of the framework.
These logbooks have already made a remarkable impact. They’ve encouraged our pupils to become more self-aware, helping them to recognise the values they embody in everyday school life. From the classroom to co-curricular activities, the logbooks are supporting our pupils in becoming more mindful, well-rounded, and globally aware individuals.
A huge thank you must go to Mrs Holmes, whose dedication and creativity brought these logbooks to life. Her efforts have laid the foundation for a powerful tool that will support the personal growth of our young learners for years to come.
At Windermere, we’re proud to see our pupils growing into thoughtful, resilient and compassionate citizens of the world—and the Round Square Logbook is helping lead the way.
