Year 12 – Induction
11 September 2020
Year 12 Induction was slightly different from previous years, not least because of the Covid-19 safety measures we had in place. After a brief overview of the Sixth Form, the IBDP and IBCP, students joined a ‘Wake up, Shake up’ session with our visiting music teacher, Mr Kevin Sharkey. They continued after break with a team building, problem solving activity with puzzles to solve based around the six IB groups: First Language, Second Language, Humanities, Science, Maths and the Arts.
With a forecast of rain all afternoon, we set off down to Hodge Howe, where the four Year 12 tutor groups went head-to-head in a challenge that involved a scavenger hunt for money, an auction to buy essential kit, building coracles and then taking them on the water with a task to extinguish a raging inferno (small fire in a bucket!) on the other side of the jetty. After which they had to rescue their team mates from the starting point. Unfortunately, three of the four teams managed to sink before even reaching the fires. Congratulations to Mrs Moses’ tutor group for completing the task without getting too wet.
