NEWSLETTER – 12 May 2023
What a fabulous couple of weeks we have had. Last Friday saw the yearly Performing Arts celebration at the Junior School which had a royal theme, very appropriate ahead of the Coronation weekend. The weather was exceptionally kind with only a couple of drops of rain before the sun shone. It was a glorious afternoon full of song and dance, with performances from each House. Flemyng were victorious with a West End performance of ‘Six by Six’ and an acrobatic dance to ‘We Just Can’t Wait to be King’. It was a royal success! Congratulations to all our performers; you simply were amazing. The arrival of the ice cream van was a perfect way to lead into the long weekend.
This week we welcomed back the Year 8 French Trip, and what a wonderful time they had. From visiting French markets to eating snails and experiencing other cultural delights. A huge thanks to Mrs Bruce, Mrs Dalzell and Dr Gray for giving our Year 8 pupils this great opportunity to improve their language skills and linguistic enthusiasm.
We ended this week at the Senior School with a Reflection on the importance of smiling and laughter in our lives. Sunday 7th May was World Laughter Day, and we were able to think about the health benefits related to laughing. From lowering blood pressure, reducing pain and releasing endorphins, laughter is and should be an important part of our each and every day. The events mentioned above, as well as the small everyday moments that are too numerous to mention, certainly bring lots of smiles and laughter. As we head into the weekend, we have the power to make people smile and laugh, so let’s use it.

YOU’RE INVITED
We are excited to be hosting a MINI-OLYMPICS event at the Elleray Campus on 19th May from 1:30 – 3:30 pm.
We are the year 12 CP BTEC Business class at Browhead and we will be running this event by hosting a range of athletic events for all the children to participate in and enjoy. We are doing this event as part of our IBCP course and to give the Elleray pupils an exciting afternoon to spend with their friends.
We hope to see as many parents there as possible as we feel that that this will be a great event for the whole school community to participate in, there will also be refreshments too!
