Sun, Snow and Smiles!
9 March 2023
The Senior School Ski Trip was back for the first time in three years, and what a week we had! 33 pupils and 4 staff members were lucky enough to head to Davos, Switzerland, over the February half term break for a wonderful week of skiing. The resort has 6 ski areas and over 300km of pisted runs; so with plenty of snow, there were spectacular views and smiles all round! Expert tuition from the instructors allowed the pupils to make excellent progress. It did not take long for the beginner group to leave the nursery slopes behind and head up to the main ski area of Parsenn. Before the end of the week they were confidently skiing all the way down to Klosters – a fantastic achievement.
The fun continued into the evenings with a trip to an ice cream parlour and the local ice rink. However, the highlight for many was the heated outdoor pool where students could relax in the bubbles and gaze at the stars.
Everyone returned with lots of happy memories, if not a little bit tired!
Lukas has been kind enough to wright us a review of his experience:
“I was incredibly nervous about the ski trip as I had never stayed away from home for more than four nights before. This was a huge thing for me. The trip had seemed to slink up on me as if it had been wearing an invisibility cloak. As I walked towards the coach I felt a sinking feeling of dread mingling with excitement! The bus journey was not nearly as awful as I was expecting it to be, it was, in-fact quite relaxing. Arriving in Switzerland and seeing the wonderous landscape basked in golden sunshine was truly magical! Our skiing instructor (Sam) was awesome! He was kind, helpful, generous and hilarious. My favourite part of the entire ski trip was the idyllic run down to Klosters Dorf (with a tasty stop at a burger van) as it was so beautiful and had such wonderous scenery! The activity I enjoyed the best was most definitely swimming.
The ski trip was an incredible experience and very rewarding!”
A huge thanks to Mr Cooke, Miss McClelland and Mrs Murray for all their help on the trip.
